Respect.
So today I saw a certain UFC fighter who recently fought and lost in person. And damn his face looked bad.
I mean it’s so easy for us at home to look at an athlete (any athlete) and judge them and say they did a shitty performance. Or to say that they’re not good at what they get paid to do.
But when you think about it, how many people have the guts to put it all out there for the world to see?
I’m sure I’ve said this before but I mean seeing a professional athlete after a loss made me feel sympathetic because HE’S HUMAN.
He probably feels shitty about how he performed. I don’t know I just hate when people constantly shit talk on athletes who gave a bad performance. Any one who has done a sport has most likely lost a game or a fight or a match before. But imagine how it feels to do so in front of the entire world.
Mind you this wasn’t even one of my favorite UFC fighters or anything. It just made me think….watching him get his ass beat not too long ago…and then seeing his fucked up face in person today. It made me have a lot of respect for him, even if he isn’t an athlete I particularly like/admire.
“This is something that I’ve been doing since the beginning of my career,” St-Pierre said. “I wore a suit at press conferences when all the other fighters were making fun of me. (They said), ‘Oh, look at St-Pierre, he doesn’t wear his sponsor.’ I’m the one who first started doing this stuff, and I think the image and how you conduct yourself … because the sponsor, the big companies in corporate America, they’re not interested in sponsoring an athlete who is good in his sport but acts like an idiot outside of the Octagon. They want someone who performs well, of course, but acts like a gentleman outside of the Octagon.”
- Georges St-Pierre
him and Rashad always suit up. i myself would also…i wanna look like a gentlemen for the people but thats just me
GSP listens to Barney Stinson & suits up. Therefore he gets all the chicks ;)

I used to remember all these Japanese names for the throws. And now I forgot them. I miss my tiny Japanese Sensei.

I barely lifted weights until I was a blackbelt. Most of my training was on the mats. I trained twice a day so I did not have much time for anything else. There’s no secret. The more time you spend on the mats, the quicker you get better.
what are you thoughts on the upcoming Jim Miller vs Nate Diaz fight who do you think is a bigger threat to Benson Henderson ??
@AnonymousI am super stoked for Miller vs. Diaz! I am leaning a little more towards Diaz, because even though both of them are terrific fighters & submission specialists (esp Miller with the finishes), I think Nate Diaz can stand and bang a little better you know? He can take more hits to the face. Well I guess he has proven that. I’m not so certain about Miller in that aspect.
I would also say that Diaz is a bigger threat to Benson because of that. Diaz drops bombs. If you’re someone who has no head movement *cough*Cerrone*cough* you can get beat up. Also, Benson probably knows Millers style a little better because they fought once before. Obviously rematches can go differently, but maybe Diaz is a little bit more of a surprise.
Don’t get me wrong I think Benson Henderson is an extremely talented fighter, I just think Diaz might give him a little more trouble than Miller would.
Ultimate Fighting Championship.
I find it interesting that the UFC was created to make Gracie Jiu-Jitsu look good. Not hating on Gracie Jiu-Jitsu, but that was clearly the point of UFC 1.
But now, the successful fighters need to be proficient in many martial arts, and implement as many as possible. You need to have as many tools in your belt. And that’s what many of the current UFC champions have- they are well rounded, constantly evolving and willing to learn new things.
UFC was created initially to figure out which style martial arts is the best. However, I think that it is now obvious that to become successful in the Ultimate Fighting Championship, you need to be able to master & implement multiple forms of martial arts.
